How I ended up with my girl, Maui is a bit unconventional...

I had been going to the humane society for weeks looking at dogs, coming home, and showing pics to Brian... "see this one is so cute but seems a little skiddish"... "This one might have too much energy"... "Awww, look at this one!!"

He was unimpressed with all of them. 😂

Brian grew up having sled dogs and had particular opinions about what he wanted in a dog of his own... I understood that. Buuuut I also had my own opinions about what I wanted in a dog.

Brian was getting tired of me going to the humane society all the time. (understandably so)
😅
I'd come home and couldn't stop talking about All. The. Dogs!! 🤗 And wanting every single one.
😂🤷‍♀️
So I started telling him I was "going shopping" 😎
😂
...which wasn't 100% inaccurate...
😂
I just left out about the part that it was for a dog 😅 and I kept to myself about how cute they all were.

Eventually, I found her.

Maui fit everything we both wanted in a dog, and I knew immediately she's the one.

Most decisions made in life can be 'un-done' in some way. If Maui truly wasn't going to work for us, I knew I would be able to find someone who would love her. This isn't to say I got her without much thought.

The opposite is true.

I spent years waiting for the 'right time' and 'right dog.'

So I walked in the door to my house, with the wiggliest 'purchase' 😉 ever, praying Brian would love her as much as I already had.

He wasn't thrilled... perhaps pissed is the better word.
😅
I understood that and apologized I didn't let him see her before bringing her home.

She had been 'available for adoption' for 20 minutes (...if that!) when I signed the papers.

I knew she'd be gone that day, and they don't do 'holds'

It took only the remainder of that day for Brian to see just how perfect she was for both of us.

She's changed our lives. And I'm sooo grateful for her joy, curiosity, and patience every day.
